“Visitor Attraction”, “Visitor Experience”,  “Things to do”, “Hidden Gem”, any of these could describe what we do at The Irish Soda Bread Way.

We started in 2019, and over the years, we have fine-tuned our baking and food heritage experience to make it the best it can be!

We believe we tick all the relevant boxes (as recommended by Failte Ireland Research in their 2018 publication, “ What makes a great Visitor Attraction?”)

  • We tell a great story, one that is unique and memorable. We discuss the origins of Irish Soda Bread and some of the social history that surrounds it. The story of Irish butter also features including the piseogs ( superstitions) connected with its making! The fascinating beginnings of our delicious Irish Coffee are not forgotten either! These stories are brought to life by baking your very own soda bread, churning Irish butter ( to spread on your own freshly baked scones), and even learning to make an Irish Coffee.

  • You will learn, see, feel, smell and taste, engaging all the senses. To use the buzzword, it is an “immersive”, “hands-on” visitor experience. Doing is learning after all!

  • Preparation and good organisation is a key factor to the success of The Irish Soda Bread Way. We ensure there is clear guidance, good layout, and everything you need is at hand. You all know the saying “fail to prepare, prepare to fail”! We make it all appear seamless!

  • We love what we do. We are passionate about baking, tradition, and Irish heritage. We believe we warmly engage with our guests in a fun, entertaining, and spontaneous way. It’s Irish hospitality at its best!

  • The Irish Soda Bread Way appeals to all. Suits all abilities There are no hidden costs, and it is great value for money. You will be delighted with what you have achieved and all the fun and humour you enjoyed in the process. We are centrally located in beautiful Westport, County Mayo, in the welcoming Clew Bay Hotel on James Street. Join us. We would love to meet you!
